Updated: May 12, 2023

Hai Whakapakari i Ngā Tamatāne Kia Purapura Tuawhiti | To Develop Educated

Men of Outstanding Character has been the vision of Palmerston North Boys’ High

School for nearly 20 years. This vision recognises the value we place on focusing

on the all-round development of our young men.

Participation in and out of the classroom is strongly encouraged; young men are

supported to achieve to their potential in their academic studies and to involve

themselves in our co-curricular programmes. Character education focuses on our

school values Tū Māia | Courage – Ngākau Mahaki | Humility – Te mahi tahi |

Industry – Tū Rangatira | Integrity – Tū Whakahī | Pride – Tū Whakaaute | Respect

and young men and staff are encouraged to display these values in their behaviour

and interactions.

‘Our Code’ links the key competencies from the New Zealand Curriculum, our school

values and desired learning behaviours. Our Code forms the basis of ‘tracking’

reports emailed to parents throughout the year and is utilised in a range of different

ways by teachers across the school.
