During my time at school I had real difficulty with spelling.
It was something that didn’t make sense and wrote learning wasn’t a successful learning strategy for me. It is an area of my life I continued to struggle with through into adulthood.
Throughout my teaching career I have witnessed students go through the same battle as I did when I was at school. When I started teaching using the structured literacy approach to reading and writing, and using the CODE to teach spelling not only did I see improvements in the learners in my class, but I too benefited form this approach to teaching spelling.
